American Sector, another John Besh restaurant in New Orleans, located within the World War II museum. Very cool vibe and excellent excellent excellent food and drinks. Started things New Orleans style with the Last Waltz (Stolichnaya vodka, strawberry, mint, ginger, champagne!), slightly spicy pickles, then the pork cheeks with corn bread and black-eyed peas. Seriously one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten—the corn bread was ever so sweet and really tied the entire dish together. Finished the meal up with not one, not two, but three cupcakes: Sugar cane iced/candied bacon, Red Velvet, and Devil’s Food cake with nutella. The bacon was kind of weird, but really tasty, but I think my favorite was the Red Velvet…that cream cheese…oh man.
